Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year

Celebrating the New Year is still quite new for Turkey. Although Turkey is a secular state but with the influence of Islam as the official religion. Islamic holidays are actively celebrated here. But with the influx of large numbers of ex-pats and visitors from Western countries, the popularity of the New Year is gaining momentum.

Christmas is not celebrated in Turkey. Christmas trees and decorations are being set for the New Year celebration.

Is it possible to decorate my home in Turkey for Christmas/New Year?

Of course! Christmas trees and decorations are sold in stores such as IKEA and Metro. You can find gorgeous unique Christmas tree decorations in MUDO HOME, T-Mall, WLC Waikiki, and so on. And of course, you can buy Christmas decorations from popular brands such as Zara and H&M, etc.

New Year’s atmosphere in Turkey.

In Turkey, you can get the Christmas spirit and New year mood in shopping malls. All of them beautifully decorated, each one has a large Christmas tree, merry music, and big discounts.

Very nice atmosphere in The Land Of Legends! Here you can listen to chorales, drink hot wine, and make wonderful photos.

For the last year or two, it’s become popular to wear a “Christmas sweater”. You can get one in any clothes shop, any budget any quality available.

In the hotels. This is where the new year is celebrated on a grand scale. Usually, it is a live music concert, gala dinner, and fireworks.

New Year’s traditions in Turkey.

Celebration of the New Year is practically no different from the Western one. For the new year, the whole family gathers at the festive table. Music plays, everyone is beautifully dressed. There are wishes for happiness, health, and prosperity in the new year.
